SIMPLE FUTURE ( THÌ TƯƠNG LAI ĐƠN )
A. Chúng ta dùng will('ll) ( tức là thì Simple Future – tương lai đơn ) khi quyết định ngay vào lúc nói để làm một việc gì đó:
– Oh, i 've left the door open. I'll go and shut it.
( Ôi, tôi đã để cửa mở. Tôi sẽ đi đóng cửa lại )
– ''What would you like to drink ?''. '' I 'll have a lemonade, please ''
(''Anh muốn uống gì?''.''Làm ơn cho một ly nước chanh'')
– ''Did you phone Ann?''. ''Oh, no, i forgot. I'll do it now'',
( ''Bạn đã gọi điện cho Ann chưa?''''Ồ, chưa, tôi quên mất. Tôi sẽ gọi ngay bây giờ '')
– I'm too tired to walk home. I'll get a taxi.
(Tôi quá mệt để đi bộ về nhà. Tôi nghĩ là mình sẽ đi đón taxi)
Bạn không dùng thì Simple Present trong những câu này:
– I'll go and shut it. (Không dùng ''i go and shut it'').
Không dùng will để nói về một việc mà ai đó đã quyết định trước hay đã xem xét trước để thực hiện.
– I can't meet you tomorrow because my parents are coming to see me.
(Tôi không thể gặp bạn ngày mai được vì bố mẹ sẽ đến thăm tôi)(Không dùng ''my parents will come'')
Phủ định(Negative) của will là won't ( will not)
– Receptionist: I'm afraid Mr Good can't see you until 4 o'clock.
( Tiếp viên: Tôi e rằng ông Wood không thể gặp ông trước 4 giờ được ).
– You: Oh, in that case, i won't wait
(Bạn: Ồ, nếu thế thì tôi không thể đợi được.)
Chúng ta thường dùng i think i'll ( Tôi nghĩ rằng tôi sẽ….) hay i don't think i 'll( Tôi không nghi rằng tôi sẽ……) khi chúng ta quyết định làm điều gì.
– I think i'll stay at home this evening.
( Tôi nghĩ rằng tôi sẽ ở nhà chiều nay)
– I don't think i'll go out tonight. I'm too tired.
( Tôi không nghĩ rằng tôi sẽ đi chơi tối nay. Tôi quá mệt rồi).
B. Chúng ta thường dùng will trong các tình huống sau:

* Ngỏ ý muốn giúp ai làm gì:
– That bag looks heavy. I'll help you with it.
( Cái túi đó có vẻ nặng. Tôi sẽ giúp chị xách nó ) (Không dùng ''i help'').
– ''I need some money''. ''Don't worry, i'll lend you some''.
('' Tôi cần ít tiền ''.'' Đừng lo, tôi sẽ cho anh mượn '').
* Đồng ý hay từ chối làm điều gì đó:
– A: Can i have the book you lend me back?
( Tôi có thể lấy lại cuốn sách tôi cho bạn mượn không ?).
– B: Of course. I'll bring it back this afternoon.
( Tất nhiên rồi. Tôi sẽ mang trả chiều nay ). (Không dùng''i bring'').
– I've asked John to help me but he won't.
(Tôi dã nhờ John giúp tôi nhưng anh ta từ chối).
– The car won't start (=The car refuses to start ).
( Chiếc xe không khởi động được)
* Hứa hẹn làm điều gì đó:
– Thank you for lending me the money, I'll pay you back on Friday.
( Cảm ơn bạn đã cho tôi mượn tiền. Tôi sẽ trả cho bạn vào thứ Sáu ) ( Không dùng ''i pay'').
– I won't tell Tom what you said. I promise.
( Tôi sẽ không nói cho Tom biết nhưng điều bạn nói. Tôi hứa đấy ).
– I promise i'll phone you as soon as i arrive.
( Tôi hứa sẽ gọi điện cho bạn gay khi tôi đến nơi ).
* Yêu cầu ai làm điều gì đó ( will you…..? )
– Will you shut th door, please?
( Anh làm ơn đóng cửa giùm tôi nhé ).
– Will you please be quiet? I'm trying to concentrate
( Anh là ơn yên nào? Tôi đang cố tập trung suy nghĩ đây ).
